Frisco gutter installation is mostly about matching gutters to big roofs. Many Frisco homes are large two-story plans with steep pitches, valleys and inside corners, and builder-installed 5-inch gutters often can’t keep up. We roll-form seamless 6-inch aluminum gutters on site and add downspouts where the water actually lands.

A city built in 25 years, mostly by production builders

Frisco had about 34,000 residents in 2000 and about 200,000 by 2020. It was the fastest-growing city in the country for much of the 2000s. The city spans two counties: most of it is in Collin County, and the west side is in Denton County.

That speed shows in the housing. Much of Frisco is master-planned communities, built in phases by several production builders at once. Phillips Creek Ranch, for one, has been building out since 2013, with builders from Toll Brothers to Drees.

Production building keeps costs in check, and gutters are an easy line to trim. A plan gets the smallest gutter and the fewest downspouts that pass. That’s why so many newer Frisco homes show the problems below within a few years.

Complex rooflines and inside corners

Frisco floor plans often stack gables, hips and dormers on one roof. Every valley funnels a big slice of roof into one spot, usually an inside corner. When two valleys meet there in a downpour, water arrives faster than a 5-inch gutter can move it.

Common signs:

  • Water sheeting over the front lip at inside corners
  • Mulch washed out of beds below the corner
  • Stains on brick or stone under the overflow
  • Gutters that drain fine in light rain and fail in a storm

We fix it with an extra outlet near the corner, a larger downspout, or a 6-inch run. Sometimes it takes all three. Our downspouts and drainage service covers where that water should go after it leaves the gutter.

Why 5-inch builder gutters struggle on big Frisco roofs

A 6-inch gutter carries roughly 40% more water than a 5-inch. On a large two-story roof, that margin matters. A 3×4-inch downspout also moves about twice the water of a 2×3.

Six-inch seamless gutters usually run $11–$17 per linear foot, installed. Not every house needs a full tear-off. If only the back of the home overflows, we may upsize those runs and leave the front alone. Our guide to 5-inch vs 6-inch gutters in Texas shows how we decide.

Second-story runs also need careful slope. We pitch them about 1/4 inch per 10 feet toward each outlet. Too flat and water sits; too steep and it looks crooked against the brick line.

HOA color rules in Frisco neighborhoods

Frisco has more than 200 HOAs, according to the city. Most regulate exterior colors, and gutters count as trim. Gated communities like Starwood and Newman Village have their own rules, and so does the active-adult community of Frisco Lakes.

Many Frisco homes pair brick or stone with a builder’s standard trim color. Matching it is usually a simple swap with no approval needed. Changing it, say from white to dark bronze, usually means a form to the architectural committee first.

If your committee wants specs, ask and we’ll send the color name, gutter size and profile for the application. You sign off on the color before any coil goes through the machine.

Hail and storm damage on newer Frisco homes

A newer roof doesn’t stop hail. Storm reports logged hail up to 2 inches around Frisco and The Colony in September 2024, after more hail that spring. Gutters dent, downspouts crush, and miters can split open.

If hail dented your gutters, ask the adjuster to include them in the roof claim. Replacing hail-damaged builder gutters is also the cheapest moment to upsize, since the old system is coming down anyway. Read more on gutter replacement.

As young yard trees mature, leaves start landing on Frisco roofs too. Micro-mesh gutter guards keep them out of second-story gutters you’d rather not climb to. See how much 5-inch and 6-inch gutters cost in DFW for typical totals.

Frequently asked questions

Why do my Frisco gutters overflow at the inside corners when it rains hard?

Two roof valleys often meet at one inside corner, so a large share of the roof's water lands in a few feet of gutter. A 5-inch gutter with one far-off downspout can't take it. Adding an outlet near the corner or going to 6-inch usually stops it.

Does my Frisco HOA have to approve gutter color?

Most Frisco HOAs regulate exterior colors, and gutters count as trim. Matching your current color is usually simple. For a color change, submit to your architectural committee first; we give you the color name, size and profile in writing.

Is it worth replacing builder gutters on a newer Frisco home?

Not always. If the gutters only overflow in a few spots, adding downspouts or upsizing those runs may be enough. If most runs overflow, a full 6-inch system is often the better spend.

Do you work on both the Collin County and Denton County sides of Frisco?

Yes. We install gutters all over Frisco, on either side of the county line.

Can you install gutters on an active-adult or gated community home in Frisco?

Yes. We follow the community's gate and contractor rules. Tell us about any access steps when you book.
