Gutter cleaning in DFW is a twice-a-year job for most homes, timed to the trees. DTX Seamless cleans gutters by hand, flushes every downspout, checks hangers and seams, and hauls the debris away. A typical gutter cleaning visit runs $150–$450 per visit.
What our gutter cleaning includes
A cleaning should leave the whole system draining, not just look clear from the street. Every visit includes the following.
- Debris removed by hand. We scoop out leaves, tassels, seed pods and grit. We don’t blow wet sludge across your roof, walls or patio.
- Downspouts flushed. We run water through each downspout and clear clogs in the elbows.
- Hangers checked. We look for loose or missing hangers and re-seat loose ones as we go.
- Seams and corners checked. We look for drips, failed sealant and separated miters.
- Slope checked. Standing water after flushing means a sag or a low spot. We note it.
- Bagged and hauled off. Debris goes into bags and leaves with us.
- Photos. You get before-and-after photos, plus photos of anything that needs attention.
When to clean gutters in DFW
DFW trees drop debris on two main schedules. Time your cleaning just after each one.
- Late spring. Live oaks drop old leaves and long strings of tassels in early spring as new growth comes in. Red oaks and post oaks add tassels and pollen. By May, that debris has packed into a mat that holds water. Clean once the tassels have finished falling.
- Late fall to early winter. Red oak, cedar elm, pecan and Bradford pear leaves come down from November into December. Clean after most of the leaves are off the trees.
Under heavy pecan or oak cover, a third cleaning in late summer can help. Pecan husks and twigs drop then, too.
Clean gutters also matter before spring storm season. A North Texas downpour can overflow a clogged gutter in minutes. That water lands at the foundation or soaks the fascia.
Two-story gutter cleaning and safety
Most gutter injuries happen on ladders. Two-story homes add height and steeper setups. Here is how our crew handles it.
- Ladders sized to the eave height, set on firm, level ground.
- Ladder stabilizers that rest on the roof or wall, not on the gutter.
- We don’t walk steep roofs to clean gutters when we can reach from a ladder.
- No work in high wind, lightning or rain.
If you have been cleaning a second-story gutter yourself from a ladder, this is the job to hand off.

Problems we often find while cleaning
A cleaning is a chance to catch small problems before they get expensive. These are the ones we see most often in DFW.
- Loose hangers from old spike-and-ferrule systems, which let the gutter sag.
- Leaking seams on sectional gutters, staining the fascia below.
- Rotted fascia behind the gutter, soft when pressed. We photograph it so the wood can be repaired before hangers pull loose.
- Hail dents that hold water and debris.
- Short downspout outlets dumping water right at the slab.
We fix small items during the visit. Bigger gutter problems we photograph and quote, and most of those fall under a gutter repair visit.
Gutter cleaning cost in DFW
A standard gutter cleaning visit typically runs $150–$450 per visit. The price depends on linear feet, story height, roof pitch, how full the gutters are, and how many downspouts need clearing. Heavy, compacted debris or a roof we must walk can add time. Your quote tells you the price before we start.
When gutter guards make more sense
If you pay for cleaning three or more times a year, guards may cost less over time. That is common under live oaks, post oaks and pecans. Guards also make sense if your gutters overflow between cleanings, or if no one in the house should be on a ladder.
Professional micro-mesh guards keep out tassels, leaves and most grit. They still need an occasional rinse of the top surface. Basic screens cost less but let small debris through. See our gutter guards page for options. If oaks or pecans are the issue, our guide to gutter guards for oak and pecan trees compares the types.
DTX Seamless will tell you honestly if cleaning twice a year is all you need. For many homes with few trees, it is.
Frequently asked questions
How often should gutters be cleaned in DFW?
Twice a year for most homes: late spring after oak tassels and pollen, and late fall or early winter after leaves drop. Homes under heavy oak or pecan cover may need a third visit.
Do I need to be home for gutter cleaning?
No. We just need gate access and a heads-up about pets. We send photos when we finish so you can see the results.
Do you clean gutters on two-story homes?
Yes. We use ladders sized for the height with stabilizers that keep weight off the gutter. Steep or very tall roofs may need extra setup, which we note in the quote.
Will you fix problems you find while cleaning?
Small fixes like re-seating a loose hanger or a downspout elbow are part of the visit. Anything bigger, like a leaking seam or a sag, we photograph and quote as a repair.
Do you clean gutters that have guards on them?
Yes. Some guards lift or unclip so we can clean underneath. Others only need the top surface brushed off. We'll tell you which type you have.
